Here’s the thing about wall-mounted patio heaters: they’re not just about throwing off a cozy glow. They’re built to deliver real, focused heat right where you need it—around the table, by the door, wherever people gather. But the real test isn’t just the warmth. It’s surviving the environment. The guts: power, voltage, and why it matters
We build our wall heaters as infrared systems, not just fancy light bulbs. At the heart is a halogen shortwave emitter—a compact tube, around 300mm, packing a lot of power into a small space. We choose 400V on purpose. It lets us run higher wattage without the heater taking up more room, so you get that fast, directional heat without tripping breakers when it’s wired right. And because it’s shortwave, the energy goes straight into people and objects, not the air around them. You feel the warmth instantly, where you want it. But yeah, that also means the lamp body runs hot. No surprises there.
What’s inside—and why it holds up
Inside the tube, the halogen cycle keeps the filament stable. Instead of the tungsten blackening the bulb, it cycles back to the filament. That’s why we use quartz, not regular glass—quartz can handle the heat and the chemistry inside. The reflector coating isn’t for looks. It’s functional, redirecting infrared energy forward so you’re not wasting output. And the R7s connector? It’s a no-fuss, industrial choice that locks the tube in at both ends and gives solid contact for high current. That means fewer hot spots at the terminals—and fewer headaches down the road.
The real-world challenge: heat plus humidity
Bathrooms and patios throw two enemies at once: high heat and high humidity. Together, they drive condensation, speed up oxidation, and can kill a lamp quickly if the seals and materials aren’t up to the job. So we age-test our heaters through hot, humid cycles that compress years of exposure into a short stretch. The goal is simple: when you mount this on the wall, aim it where you want, and flip it on, it should feel dependable. Now, there’s a trade-off. All that heat density needs breathing room. If you cram it into an enclosed cabinet with no airflow, you’ll shorten its life. Plan the mounting space the same way you plan the wiring—give it room to do its thing.
