We run short-wave infrared (SWIR) quartz emitters, so the energy goes straight into the printed layer, not the bulk of the glass. The response is quick—usually getting the print surface up to target within seconds. That cuts dwell time and frees up line capacity. Power density is tuned to match typical glass line speeds, and the spectral output is chosen to limit unwanted substrate heating that can drive thermal stress. The system is built around repeatable temperature control, so you can hold the same profile across different ink loads and glass thicknesses without chasing drift.
Why this approach fits digital printing on glass
Digital printing needs tight thermal uniformity across the sheet. If drying is patchy, you get local stress and inconsistent cure—then the scrap pile grows and you’re reworking everything. SWIR gives you a focused thermal field that dries the print fast while keeping the edge and body of the glass closer to where they should be. That reduces the risk of micro-cracks and warp. The payoff is fewer rejects, more consistent adhesion for downstream coating or lamination, and a line that can run faster without giving up quality. Energy use drops too, because the heat goes where it needs to go and the cycle is shorter.
The practical details that make it work
Installation is straightforward, but the details still matter. We supply drop-in replacement kits for common glass processing lines, with exact mounting dimensions and wiring options that match what’s already on the machine. If your equipment is a different brand, we provide adapter brackets and terminal configurations so the fit is non-intrusive—no cutting up the frame. One constraint you can’t ignore is line-of-sight. Areas shadowed by fixtures or rollers may need a reworked path or a secondary drying stage. Plan that early, and you won’t get blindsided later.
