The Secret is in the Specs
Most off-the-shelf lamps are… well, “close enough.” But “close enough” doesn’t work when you’re running a production line. If your lamps aren’t matched, your first piece of glass gets a completely different heat profile than the twentieth piece. That’s why we obsess over the filament and the quartz envelope. Getting the Hardware Right
To get that rapid ramp-up for preheating, you need high-wattage shortwave lamps. But the quartz matters just as much. We use high-purity quartz because it lets the IR light pass straight through. If there are impurities in the glass, the lamp actually absorbs its own heat. Not only does that create cold spots on your workpiece, but it kills your lamps way faster. One heads-up, though: this much power puts a real load on your electrical panels. If your wiring isn’t built for that peak current, you’ll get voltage drops. And as soon as the voltage dips, your consistency goes right out the window.
