When we design waterproof heaters for bathrooms and high-humidity spots, the IP55 rating is just the starting point. Sure, keeping water out of the electronics is a must. But there’s a bigger worry when you’re putting a heater in a room where babies are: the light.
Fixing that “Blinding” Glow
Most standard infrared lamps are just too bright. They give off a harsh, blinding light that makes you squint. For a baby’s developing eyes, that’s not great. To solve this, we messed around with the coatings and the filament materials. We basically filtered out the aggressive visible light and UV peaks that strain your eyes. The result? A much softer, dimmed glow. You still get all that cozy heat to warm someone up quickly, but without the glare that makes you want to blink or look away.
The Struggle With Waterproofing
Here’s the thing about making a heater waterproof: it’s a bit of a balancing act. If you seal everything up tight to hit that IP55 standard, you risk trapping heat inside the box and frying your own electronics. We handled this by using high-temp gaskets and vented aluminum housings. It lets the unit breathe while still keeping the moisture out. One quick tip if you’re installing these in a big grid: make sure your circuit breakers can handle the initial “kick” of power when those halogen filaments first jump to life.
What to Expect During Setup
These are built to be easy drop-in replacements for the heaters you already have. One thing to keep in mind: because we focused on eye safety, these won’t look as “bright” as those industrial lamps you see in drying rooms. Don’t let that fool you. The heat is still there—it’s just moving in a wavelength that won’t hurt your eyes. Just a heads-up: those protective coatings are sensitive. If you use some weird, non-standard voltage regulator, the coatings can break down. Stick to the rated voltage, and your filaments will last a lot longer.
